I have a cyrix 6x86-L machine... LiveCD 2004.2 identifies this machine properly as a 6x86-L 2X clock... LiveCD 2004.3 identifies this machine as a generic 486 which it is not... If it is going to go generic it should be a 586.... I think this is caused by a problem possibly in binutils...+ kernel 2.6 I belleve there is an update which fixes this problem... Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Boot using LiveCD 2004.3 on a machine with the cyrix 6x86 cpu. 2. Watch hardware boot section 3. Note the hardware machine type. Expected Results: identify the machine as a 586 or pentium
Could you explain a little bit better what exactly you're seeing? Where does it "identifies this machine as a generic 486"? The LiveCD doesn't really do *any* detections based on CPU-type, so what exactly are you seeing and what are you expecting?
