I'm messing up with ufed to cleanup my use-flags and I found that dv results as a local use flag, but a grep on use.* files give me that: /usr/portage/profiles/use.local.desc:media-libs/libquicktime:dv - Enables support for a codec used by many camcorders /usr/portage/profiles/use.local.desc:media-video/mjpegtools:dv - Enables support for a codec used by many camcorders /usr/portage/profiles/use.local.desc:media-video/transcode:dv - Enables support for a codec used by many camcorders Maybe it should be moved as a 'global' flag, as it's used with the same meanings on different ebuilds. Hm, three packages is probably a bit low for use.desc...
Three are the ones stated, but IIRC, there was at least another package which needed it, but I don't remember if it was already in portage or I was trying to fix it.
Found out, another ebuild using the dv flag is xawtv with the fix at bug #72141 .
I think this should be 'more valid' when bug #72141 is fixed (so that xawtv too will have dv use flag).
there are still only a few packages which would benefit from the dv useflag. therefor marking as LATER.
