it is a standard vanilla kernel, unpacked in a uncommon directory. I'm using KERNEL_DIR variable to point there
I can't reproduce it with genuine Gentoo kernel.
can you try with the tarball of 5.4.52 provided on kernel.org? I can pass config if needed.
