Description johnathan spectre 2002-09-03 10:43:19 UTC
i have a problem with various xscreensaver modules that use image files (such as
jigsaw or twang). when they try to grab an image file to use i get the following
error:

(process:31907): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **:
gtype.c:1806:g_type_register_static(): initialization assertion failed, use
g_type_init() prior to this function

(process:31907): GLib-GObject-CRITICAL **: file gobject.c: line 585
(g_object_new): assertion `G_TYPE_IS_OBJECT (object_type)' failed

all images are standard .gif, .bmp and .jpg images. image directory is set in
.xscreensaver with the imageDirectory optiion.

I have noticed this too, i think it started with the move to gdk-pixbuf
functions instead of external apps to grab an image. It is probably a configure
problem (the Changelog of xscreensaver suggests there are still problems), but i
haven't found it yet.

The new masked version in portage (4.06) fixed it for me, can you test and confirm ?
Comment 3 johnathan spectre 2002-11-02 13:50:18 UTC
well it isn't fixed in the current unmasked version. should only be marked
resolved when 4.06 is released.

i still have the same problem.

Well, you never even commented back, which would help in unmasking it. As far as
i'm concerned it is fixed, in time 4.06 will be unmasked and there's no point
in keeping this open until then.
