*** Bug 741658 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
I also see this emerge failure. !!! Fetched file: hplip-3.20.6.tar.gz VERIFY FAILED! !!! Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size !!! Got: 25908476 !!! Expected: 25909290
Apparently the changed the PostScript Printer Descriptions without creating a new release. This should be fixed in Git now.
13 days since reported. You guys need to fix stable bugs faster then that
Maybe what you need is a real life! But thanks anyway for reporting!
My real life depend on Gentoo. It is a problem if I can't print proposals and invoices. May be you should quit instead .
Daniel, I just retried this emerge today, and it's still failing with the same incorrect sizes shown. Do you know how long it typically takes for a change committed to git to become available to portage? Anton, It's not clear why you think that, having identified a legitimate problem, you feel that being antagonistic towards those who are in a position to address it is the best way to get them to want to help you. (As a tangent, it's also not clear why hplip-3.20.3, which builds successfully, does not allow you to print -- or why, in 2020, you can think of no other way to get proposals and invoices to people than on sheets of paper.)
(In reply to Dave Kemper from comment #7) > Daniel, > > I just retried this emerge today, and it's still failing with the same > incorrect sizes shown. Do you know how long it typically takes for a change > committed to git to become available to portage? > Strange! What file size does the Manifest file in your local the ebuild repository (a.k.a. portage tree) contain for hplip-3.20.6.tar.gz? It should be starting like this: DIST hplip-3.20.6.tar.gz 25908476
Ah, good call. I had run "emerge net-print/hplip" but I hadn't done a --sync first, so the Manifest hadn't been updated. Working now. Sorry for the noise.
I had such a bad experience with printing team recency, so I decided not to report bugs to this team any more (until they retire from Gentoo). The reason being: repeating bugs - https://bugs.gentoo.org/709546 - https://bugs.gentoo.org/729012 I'm not going to report it every 6 months. I have better things to do. Another reason is that some people think that they are giving me favour by fixing packages which they maintain. But I think it's me who giving them a favour by spending my time and reporting it in the first place. However, in reality we are in the same boat, both sides should do together. I also received a long email lecturing me how I should live my life which I was too lazy to read and reply to it especially. Also, some random's people comment who has no brain to sync (and think) before they talk. Oh well. Gentoo is great, I can fix bugs myself (and I did fix that one too: https://github.com/pentoo/pentoo-overlay/commit/ebcead86da23b7e8892bfda1f3f86396db0c80e5) You both will be ignored, dont bother to reply.
