We are two versions behind and the one in portage has reliability issues. I renamed the ebuild to the new version 5.2.454870.0831 and it failed to install at doins icudtl.dat. I commented out that line and it installs and runs fine. Lots of people using Zoom these days so should probably try to get this updated quickly. Zero-day bump request. Closing. https://wiki.gentoo.org/wiki/Zero-day_bump_requests
The package is several versions behind and the one in Portage is unusable. Wouldn't exactly call it a zero day request. Good job discouraging people from contributing though.
BTW, we are exactly *one* revision behind, 5.2.446620.0816 (released on 2020-08-17) vs 5.2.454870.0831 (released on 2020-09-01): https://support.zoom.us/hc/en-us/articles/205759689 (In reply to Jess Haas from comment #2) > [...] the one in Portage is unusable. Why hadn't you filed a bug against the package during the past two weeks then?

Due to server changes the version in Portage fails to connect the majority of the time. My son had switched to using my wifes ipad for school because of it. Yesterday I looked into the problem and found that there were new versions available that fixed it. My son is back to being able to use his laptop for school. Just trying to save others the same trouble.
