kde 3.4 alpha1 is out - are there any ebuilds out there? Thanks in advance, Johnny
I think we're going to use the split ebuilds for 3.4 - which are almost ready.
When they're completed, can someone stick a tarball of the ebuilds somewhere so non-devs don't need to wait for the rsync mirrors to pick it up? I've already downloaded the source files, so all I need are the ebuilds and I'm ready to start compiling.
When is "almost" anyway... It's been over a week now.
We are working on the splitted ebuilds. If you can't live without kde 3.4.0_alpha1 you can always compile it via CVS, or change the name to the monolithic ebuilds and fix them or help us on the splitted ones. Just remember that we are voluntairs and that gentoo is a community where everyone should work for it.
I don't mind helping with the split ebuilds. What's there to do?
Beta1 is out already. For KDE 3.3, we got all the alphas and betas before they were released on kde.org. Now months after alpha1 and now beta1, still nothing :) - is splitting KDE up a really good idea for maintenance? Suppose its for the best in the long run, but any ebuilds I can test and report bugs on in the mean time?
The split ebuilds for beta1 will be committed to portage tomorrow. It's just too late for me to start today, but they're already ready. So please wait another 12 hours :-) The dealy wasn't because of the splitting - we finished that a week ago - but because we fixed a lot of other, unrelated bugs, especially ones that are linked to upgrading from 3.3 to 3.4.

in portage.
