Description Ramon de Ruiter 2004-12-09 09:06:14 UTC
I have to turn of the sound in Tools - Preferences each time i start gaim.

Also when i open a new chat window, i see the formatting toolbar and sounds are enabled. I have to disable those for each new tab i open.

I only use the MSN protocol.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. start Gaim
2. check Tools - Preferences - Sound
3. Sound is enabled even though i disabled it the last time i used Gaim
4. Open a new chatwindow or tab
5. Formatting toolbar and sounds are enabled even though i disabled them before.

Actual Results:
Gaim doesn't seem to save my settings.

Expected Results:
It should keep the sound off when i restart gaim, same for the formatting toolbar.

I have to ask, is your disk full?
Comment 2 Ramon de Ruiter 2004-12-09 15:37:42 UTC
Nope, plenty of space on that partition.
Also running it from console doesn't reveal any "can't write" messages.
Comment 3 Don Seiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-13 11:35:06 UTC
When you change your preferences, are you going into the Tools->Preferences window to do it, or are you changing it from the Options dropdown in the conversation window?

If you are doing the latter, those changes only apply to that specific conversation and are not saved. Only if you change them via Tools->Preferences are they saved and used globally.

I just want to know exactly what you're doing and how you're doing it.
Comment 4 Ramon de Ruiter 2004-12-13 12:15:17 UTC
I tried both. Seems like i made a mistake: when disabling sound via Tools - Preferences - Sound the sound actually is disabled, but in a chatwindow it still has the V in front of it. As for the formatting toolbar, never even saw the hide option Tools - Preferences.
My mistake, i guess you can close this one.
Comment 5 Don Seiler (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-13 12:32:38 UTC
Closing then.
