Relevant comments from him:
Well let's see.... I just recently became interested in submitting
ebuilds. I have submitted a beta version of ardour which was turned
down due to the fact that it had some major bugs. I submitted a
recent version of sylpheed which was accepted into the portage tree.
I also reported a galeon bug that i was encountering on my system.
For some reason galeon was calling a function in libnecko.so that did
not exist. That galeon bug just decided to randomly fix itself a few
days ago btw. Odd.

the links to those bugs are below respectively.

http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=72884 (ardour)
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73404 (sylpheed)
http://bugs.gentoo.org/show_bug.cgi?id=73311 (galeon)

I have not contributed to any other open source project although I
have recently become interested in doing so. I have some experience
with C/C++, QT widget set, and some bash scripting.

In the past six years I have switched distros several times. Redhat
to Slackware to Debian back to Slackware to Gentoo. By far Gentoo
wins my vote. The one thing that has always ticked me off about a lot
of Linux distros has been the package management systems (specifically
RPMs). Gentoo is the only distro i've seen that has come up with an
inovative package management system that doesn't drive me crazy. In
fact I am thrilled with it. However i think you guys could gain a lot
by developing a graphical installer (which i hear is in the works).

I am currently working on the first quiz. Some of the information is
difficult to locate in the documentation... perhaps it does not exist?

Thank you for your time.
