An internal compiler error is most often a sign of flaky hardware: broken ram or cpu, an overheating box, etc. If you emerge kdewebdev again, does the error occure in the same line?
i have "Gentoo 2004.2 stage2" and "2004.3 stage 3" with zero error installed on this hardware, this error is all times occure in the same line and only by "Gentoo 2004.3 stage 2" installation, is it possible a problem with the version-number from the gcc ??? thanks ;-) simon p.s. sorry for my bad englisch, it is not my natural language, my german is better ;-)
It would be good for you to try running a memory test program and something like lm_sensors or another program to monitor if you have any bad ram and/or if your CPU is getting hot.
the Ram is o.k. ( memotest;-) ), CPU is normal (i'm used the Universal Boot CD for testing).
How much RAM have you got?
in this machine is 128 MB SD-Ram, i have installed the precompiled kde-3.3.0 and after that, the update via "emerge -u kde" to kde-3.3.1 was successfully :-) i like gentoo... ;-)
THANK'S :-)
> in this machine is 128 MB SD-Ram Compiling kde needs a lot of RAM, so that's probably the cause. I can only suggest to try without '-pipe' in CFLAGS/CXXFLAGS, using MAKEOPTS="-j1" instead of -j2, and not using other programs while compiling. Apart from that, there's nothing more we can do to help...
