Description Karl Trygve Kalleberg (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-07 08:40:55 UTC
Real name: Jan Brinkmann
IRC nick : luckyduck

He's been insanely productive lately. He's swamping us with good work wanting to get into CVS. I think we should have him solve his own problems from now on (i.e. give him dev status).

Reopening bug, as Jan has been inactive since May 7th (according to cia.navi.cx)

Jan: If you read this, please answer. You'll be retired otherwise :-/
As you've been inactive for half a year, you'd have to retake the quizzes as well.

Will CC infra to do the actual retirement after the holidays to give Jan some
time to respond.
Comment 6 Jan Brinkmann (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-12-22 08:33:04 UTC
Hi,
first of all I want to say sorry for not telling somebody what was wrong and why I disappeared. I had several personal issues which I had to resolve. The main problem was that in the end, I havnt had a reallife at all for about two years. This is not a fault of Gentoo in any way, since this bad behaviour of mine started before I contributed anything to Gentoo. The hole story started after a tempest. Most of my computers were seriously damaged, or at least parts of them. After my computers crashed I started to spend much more time together with friends again before I found the motivation to replace them with parts which my insurance paid. I had to write several exams as well, and started again to learn intensivly for school. One would say, I simply changed the way I spend my days, and moved away from spending my time with my computers. I really needed this break. Again, I know that this is no excuse for not telling anybody what was going on. If I get the chance, I will comeback completly at the end of march, since I'll have to do an internship until then. I leave home every morning at 8o'clock (during the week only of course) and return in the evening at 18-19o'clock. I can do Gentoo stuff at the weekends, where I have a limited amount of spare time which I would like to use to contribute things again. I'm able to do this after new years eve. Sorry again for not dropping a simple mail or something. I wanted to write something from time to time, but then I forgot it because I wasnt at home or something like that, and as you of course know, I never really did it.

Ok... This what we'll do: We'll make your CVS account ro you until after the end
of your internship. Once you got time again to be a Gentoo Dev, you just have to
take the quizzes again (which should be no problem for you). Just drop by in IRC
or mail me when you want to come back in, k? :-)

Infra: Can you please switch luckyduck's CVS access to read-only?
Comment 8 Danny van Dyk (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-12-23 06:26:00 UTC
Ok, Bryan asked me to retire you completely.

Jan: This doesn't mean you can't come back easily... Just poke me on IRC or via
Mail, and we'll guide you through it.

Infra: Please do the full magic and retire luckyduck.
Comment 9 Lance Albertson (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-12-23 06:34:59 UTC
Ok, I'll probably get to this tomorrow sometime.
