After upgrade from 1,4,4 to 1,4,5 epiphany no longer starts, on second start, option is given to recover but it still crashes. If ran from gnome-terminal, I recieve the following toeknee@toeknee ~ $ epiphany epiphany: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/mozilla/components/libnecko.so: undefined symbol: PR_GetAddrInfoByName Searching on this problem in the forum, I came across a post in that suggested export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/mozilla:/usr/lib epiphany for a similar problem found on amd64 (http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=234591&highlight=epiphany+symbol+lookup+error+mozilla+components+libnecko+undefined+symbol+prgetaddrinfobyname) This has resulted in epiphany working, but I don't want to do it every time I restart... Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.Start epiphany 2. 3. Actual Results: Epiphany crashes toeknee@toeknee ~ $ epiphany epiphany: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/mozilla/components/libnecko.so: undefined symbol: PR_GetAddrInfoByName Expected Results: Epiphany works
We need your emerge info, try with the newest epiphany too, looks like moz/epi out of sync, what version of mozilla?
Hi, emerge -pv mozilla epiphany These are the packages that I would merge, in order: Calculating dependencies ...done! [ebuild R ] net-www/mozilla-1.7.3 +crypt -debug +gnome +gtk2 +java +ldap -mozcalendar -mozdevelop +moznocompose +moznoirc +moznomail -moznoxft +mozsvg -mozxmlterm +ssl +xinerama -xprint* 29,119 kB [ebuild R ] net-www/epiphany-1.4.5 -debug +doc 0 kB I'll try epiphany 1.4.6 now, cheers.
Hi, The 1.4.6 still has the same problems. :(
emerge info
Sorry, what emerge info do you want?
I meant the output of the command "emerge info" This really looks like a mozilla problem, does mozilla itself work for you?
Yep, mozilla works, sorry about the 'emerge info' confusion, here it is... emerge info Portage 2.0.51-r3 (default-linux/x86/2004.2, gcc-3.3.4, glibc-2.3.4.20040808-r1, 2.6.9-gentoo-r4 i686) ================================================================= System uname: 2.6.9-gentoo-r4 i686 AMD Athlon(tm) XP 2400+ Gentoo Base System version 1.6.7 ccache version 2.3 [enabled] Autoconf: sys-devel/autoconf-2.59-r5 Automake: sys-devel/automake-1.8.5-r1 Binutils: sys-devel/binutils-2.15.90.0.1.1-r3 Headers: sys-kernel/linux26-headers-2.6.8.1,sys-kernel/linux26-headers-2.6.8.1-r1 Libtools: sys-devel/libtool-1.5.2-r7 ACCEPT_KEYWORDS="x86" AUTOCLEAN="yes" CFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -fomit-frame-pointer" CHOST="i686-pc-linux-gnu" COMPILER="" CONFIG_PROTECT="/etc /usr/X11R6/lib/X11/xkb /usr/kde/2/share/config /usr/kde/3.2/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/env /usr/kde/3.3/share/config /usr/kde/3.3/shutdown /usr/kde/3/share/config /usr/lib/mozilla/defaults/pref /usr/share/config /usr/share/texmf/dvipdfm/config/ /usr/share/texmf/dvips/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/generic/config/ /usr/share/texmf/tex/platex/config/ /usr/share/texmf/xdvi/ /var/lib/jboss /var/qmail/control /var/www/localhost/htdocs//mythweb/config" CONFIG_PROTECT_MASK="/etc/gconf /etc/terminfo /etc/env.d" CXXFLAGS="-O2 -march=athlon-xp -fomit-frame-pointer" DISTDIR="/usr/portage/distfiles" FEATURES="autoaddcvs autoconfig candy ccache distlocks sandbox sfperms" GENTOO_MIRRORS="http://gentoo.blueyonder.co.uk ftp://ftp.mirrorservice.org/sites/www.ibiblio.org/gentoo/ ftp://mir.zyrianes.net/gentoo/" MAKEOPTS="-j2" PKGDIR="/usr/portage/packages" PORTAGE_TMPDIR="/var/tmp" PORTDIR="/usr/portage" PORTDIR_OVERLAY="" SYNC="rsync://rsync.uk.gentoo.org/gentoo-portage" USE="3dnow S3TC X Xaw3d aalib acl acpi acpi4linux adns alsa apache2 apm ardour-ksi async autofs avi berkdb bindist bitmap-fonts bonobo cddb cdr chroot compositor crypt cscope cups dbus divx4linux dnd doc dvd dvdr eds encode evo expat f77 fam fbcon fbdev ffmpeg fftw flac flash fluidsynth foomaticdb fortran freetype fusion gd gdbm gif gimpprint glgd gnome gnomedb gpm gstreamer gtk gtk2 gtkhtml guile hal howl imagemagick imlib innodb jack java javascript jpeg junit kerberos ladspa ldap libcaca libg++ libwww mad mdb mikmod mldonkeypango mmx mono motif mozilla moznocompose moznoirc moznomail mozsvg mpeg mpeg4 msn music mysql nagios-dns nagios-ntp nagios-ping nagios-ssh ncurses net nls nptl nvidia oav odbc offensive oggvorbis openal opengl oss pam pango parse-clocks pdflib perl php physfs plotutils png ppds psyco pthreads python qt quicktime readline rogue samba sdk sdl serial snmp sox speex spell sqlite sse ssl svg svga tcltk tcpd tetex theora threads tiff timidity transcode truetype type1 usb v4l v4l2 videos virus-scan wmf wxwindows x86 xatrix xbase xface xinerama xml xml2 xmms xosd xv xvid zlib video_cards_nvidia"
Strangely enough, after a couple of days, it appears to have cleared itself up...
Please re-open if this problem crops up again, and/or try the newest moz/epi (1.7.5/1.4.6).
