Description Anthony Batchelor 2004-12-07 08:33:40 UTC
After upgrade from 1,4,4 to 1,4,5 epiphany no longer starts, on second start, option is given to recover but it still crashes.
If ran from gnome-terminal, I recieve the following

    toeknee@toeknee ~ $ epiphany
epiphany: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/mozilla/components/libnecko.so: undefined symbol: PR_GetAddrInfoByName

Searching on this problem in the forum, I came across a post in that suggested
 export LD_LIBRARY_PATH=/usr/lib/mozilla:/usr/lib epiphany
for a similar problem found on amd64 (http://forums.gentoo.org/viewtopic.php?t=234591&highlight=epiphany+symbol+lookup+error+mozilla+components+libnecko+undefined+symbol+prgetaddrinfobyname)

This has resulted in epiphany working, but I don't want to do it every time I restart...

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Start epiphany
2.
3.

Actual Results:
Epiphany crashes
toeknee@toeknee ~ $ epiphany
epiphany: symbol lookup error: /usr/lib/mozilla/components/libnecko.so:
undefined symbol: PR_GetAddrInfoByName

Expected Results:
Epiphany works

We need your emerge info, try with the newest epiphany too, looks like moz/epi out of sync, what version of mozilla?
Comment 2 Anthony Batchelor 2004-12-09 02:56:08 UTC
Hi,

emerge -pv mozilla epiphany
These are the packages that I would merge, in order:
Calculating dependencies ...done!
[ebuild R ] net-www/mozilla-1.7.3 +crypt -debug +gnome +gtk2 +java +ldap -mozcalendar -mozdevelop +moznocompose +moznoirc +moznomail -moznoxft +mozsvg -mozxmlterm +ssl +xinerama -xprint* 29,119 kB
[ebuild R ] net-www/epiphany-1.4.5 -debug +doc 0 kB

I'll try epiphany 1.4.6 now,
  cheers.

Hi,
The 1.4.6 still has the same problems. :(
Comment 4 Mike Gardiner (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-09 22:48:42 UTC
emerge info
Comment 5 Anthony Batchelor 2004-12-10 01:45:04 UTC
Sorry, what emerge info do you want?
Comment 6 Mike Gardiner (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-10 02:17:05 UTC
I meant the output of the command "emerge info"

This really looks like a mozilla problem, does mozilla itself work for you?
Comment 7 Anthony Batchelor 2004-12-10 02:28:23 UTC
Yep, mozilla works,
sorry about the 'emerge info' confusion, here it is...

Comment 8 Anthony Batchelor 2004-12-15 02:46:57 UTC
Strangely enough, after a couple of days, it appears to have cleared itself up...
Comment 9 Mike Gardiner (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-20 04:04:17 UTC
Please re-open if this problem crops up again, and/or try the newest moz/epi (1.7.5/1.4.6).
