The media-video/nvidia-kernel and media-video/nvidia-glx ebuilds use the nvidia driver package containing a load of prebuilt kernel-modules, which causes me to download 3.7 MiB of useless kernel-modules and a lot of mirrors to store the same. This is fixed by changing the line X86_PKG_V="pkg1" to X86_PKG_V="pkg0". Notice: the only difference in the packages *are* the prebuilt binary modules. For amd64 the pkg0 and pkg1 are similarly related, but the pkg2 has extra 32-bit compat libs. Are those really needed if a Gentoo is amd64? Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:
Yes the compatibility libraries are needed for amd64 well more specifically for app-emulation/emul-linux-x86-nvidia ; I dont think people would want to download both pkg files so the combined bigger one is better in that case. So which package files are you suggesting we download? For X86 : pkg0 For AMD64 : ????
