Description Maciej Barć gentoo-dev 2020-08-07 17:59:07 UTC
When visiting some websites, namely youtube.com and lbry.tv thumbnails of some videos show graphical artefacts that look like they were corruped in a weird way.
Scattered pixels, bright green and pink colors. (attachments contain screenshots of the described situation)

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. emerge www-client/falkon with the settings attached in emerge_info.txt file
2. Open falkon browser and go to https://www.youtube.com
Actual Results:
Graphical artefacts described in description.

Expected Results:
Normal thumbnails with no artefacts.

Thank you for your comprehensive report. To me it sounds like
a bug in the software provided upstream or a misconfiguration in your system [3].
Does the same source work for you on another distribution?
If it works on other distributions, but not on Gentoo Linux, I suggest to discuss this problem
on a related mailing list, forum or IRC channel. I have had very good experience on the
Gentoo IRC [1], of course there are also forums and mailing lists. [2]

I will close this bug here, because I do not see a relation to the gentoo ebuild or the way
Gentoo handles this special software package. Please provide more information, if I am wrong.

[3] look up the upstream forums; search in their bug tracker

What do you mean by this? Compiling falkon on a different system or that system maintainer's (maybe) binary version falkon?
Comment 6 Maciej Barć gentoo-dev 2020-08-07 22:13:05 UTC
The weird behavior in www-client/falkon was caused by media-libs/libwebp merged with "-fipa-pta" in CFLAGS.
