Yes, because now I have the keys (seen at gconf-editor) that where added by: $ export GCONF_CONFIG_SOURCE=$(gconftool-2 --get-default-source) $ gconftool-2 --install-schema-file="/etc/gconf/schemas/gnomeicu.schemas" from the file /etc/gconf/schemas/gnomeicu.schemas (attached). I'm figuring out how to remove those keys, and unmerge + emerge again. By the way, I added those keys as an ORDINARY user and all my other ordinary users of my system can "see" those keys. Isn't this a security flaw? I'll do more tests on this later.

if you run it as root (I though you could only run --install-schema-file= as root?) it will create the stuff in /etc/gconf... the user prefs are in ~/.gconf. But if you run that command as a user and it works for every other user.. there is something pretty bizare going on...
I agree! :-) ...let's go back to this other one later. Now, you could reproduce the error! This is what I did: myk@anasazi My Stuff $ gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /schemas/apps/gnomeicu myk@anasazi My Stuff $ gconftool-2 --recursive-unset /apps/gnomeicu (OBS: I runned it as the user "myk" that is part of: myk@anasazi My Stuff $ groups tty wheel audio users) Then I unmerged and emerged again "gnomeicu" and the error message comes up again! I guess you can reproduce it there now, removing the keys you probably have from previus installs. I'm also adding the second emerge log file. Cheers.
