When emerging gnome-2.8 on an older system with gnome-2.2 installed, gal failed to emerge in the ./configure step, when pkg-config checked the libgnomecanvas version and said that version 2.2.0.2 is required. Simply emerging libgnomecanvas to upgrade fixed it, but the gal 2.2.3 ebuild should maybe be updated to require libgnomecanvas-2.2.0.2 instead of just libgnomecanvas-2. I had libgnomecanvas-2.2.0.1 installed. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Have a version of libgnomecanvas < 2.2.0.2 installed 2. Attempt to emerge gal Actual Results: Build fails at ./configure step Expected Results: Detected that a newer libgnomecanvas was required before emerging gal Additional information: I was going from gnome 2.2 to 2.8 and had lots of older packages.
You're right, I can see how this error crept in, seeing as we don't have canvas versions that old in the tree - but some might still have them installed. Dep updated, thanks, fixed in CVS.
