try re-emerging app-text/docbook-sgml-utils
*** Bug 73465 has been marked as a duplicate of this bug. ***
Sorry, but re-emerging app-text/docbook-sgml-utils doesn't help; I get a different error this time: docbook2txt wine-devel.sgml Using catalogs: /etc/sgml/sgml-docbook-3.1.cat Using stylesheet: /usr/share/sgml/docbook/utils-0.6.14/docbook-utils.dsl#html Working on: /var/tmp/portage/wine-20041201/work/wine-20041201/documentation/wine-devel.sgml No way to convert HTML to text found. make: *** [wine-devel.txt] Error 8 make: Leaving directory `/var/tmp/portage/wine-20041201/work/wine-20041201/documentation'
The bug that was marked duplicate of this on Bug 73465 seems more on the ball, the -jN flag is killing it (N>1) if I do some replace changes, it is when the make file is parallelizing the docbook2pdf and docbook2ps which apparently use similar .out .aux files because both use jade as a backend if I take out either pdf or ps, it completes as normal on -j4 so unless an intelligent dependancy it set up between the two or someone can do without one of those formats I think it is easier to take the other guys advise from Bug 73465, and just unparallel that section by forcing a -j1 for only the making of the docs, it is already in an if statment in the ebuild just make is emake -j1 , whatever gary
This happens to me even when using -j1; as you can see in the original bug report, I was using -j1 and I still have this problem.
OK, my bug (bug 73465) has been marked as duplicate of this one, but I think it's another bug. If you take some time to look at my logs at end of compilation, you see it's failing because of TeX compilation. I have not got any error about docbook-sgml-utils or other stuff but just about TeX... It's resolving only TeX parralel compilation issue, not all! Good luck...

in the file 'getting.sgml' is amissing '</para> tag at line 33 which made emerge wine fail pls fix it. also missing '</para> tag at line 99 as per the second error message above. seems like the file must either be patched or the 'OMITTAG NO' removed (but I don't know where that is). This is for Bug 81832 which is specific to the file 'getting.sgml' for wine-20050211.ebuild; I don't think it is a dup of this bug about "false wine-devel.sgml".
ok, there were two bugs here ... the original false crap i traced back to docbook-sgml-utils ... if you build it w/USE=-tetex, you end up with things like this in the doc makefile: DB2PDF = false DB2PS = false as for the getting.sgml missing end tag, i've added a patch to fix that ... so both wine-20050111 and wine-20050211 should work now for docs
Don't know if related, but after you merge so many similar bugs ...
