Description i.Dark_Templar 2020-07-25 08:58:56 UTC
When updating stable freetype[harfbuzz, utils] to new stable version, it fails to build

Reproducible: Always

Steps to Reproduce:
1. USE="harfbuzz -utils" emerge -1 =media-libs/freetype-2.9.1-r3
2. USE="harfbuzz utils" emerge -1 =media-libs/freetype-2.9.1-r3
3. USE="harfbuzz utils" emerge -1 =media-libs/freetype-2.10.2-r1
Actual Results:
Update to version 2.10.2-r1 fails

Expected Results:
Update should merge successfully

# emerge --info freetype

Comment 4 i.Dark_Templar 2020-07-25 09:37:39 UTC
Additionally, if I first emerge =media-libs/freetype-2.10.2-r1[harfbuzz,-utils] and then emerge =media-libs/freetype-2.10.2-r1[harfbuzz,utils], everything merges fine.

I guess =media-libs/freetype-2.9.1-r3 doesn't have FT_COLOR_H defined, and while =media-libs/freetype-2.10.2-r1 has it defined in file "include/freetype/config/ftheader.h", during build system header is used instead of new version of header in build directory.

# grep FT_COLOR_H -Ir /var/tmp/portage/portage/media-libs/freetype-2.10.2-r1/work/freetype-2.10.2/include | grep define
/var/tmp/portage/portage/media-libs/freetype-2.10.2-r1/work/freetype-2.10.2/include/freetype/config/ftheader.h:#define FT_COLOR_H <freetype/ftcolor.h>
Comment 5 Frits Letteboer 2020-07-25 20:18:34 UTC
Just a 'me too' comment; I'm having the same issue.
Comment 6 Phil Stracchino (Unix Ronin) 2020-07-26 19:02:58 UTC
Also encountering this problem.

My full USE set: [X,adobe-cff,bzip2,cleartype_hinting,harfbuzz,infinality,png,utils]
Comment 7 Phil Stracchino (Unix Ronin) 2020-07-26 19:05:44 UTC
I also am able to confirm the workaround of merging the package twice, the first time with USE=-utils.
Comment 8 Maxim P. Dementiev 2020-07-26 22:55:49 UTC
I have the same bug.

Ack. This workaround does work.
Comment 10 Robert R. Richter 2020-09-06 15:25:16 UTC
I can confirm this workaround (USE=-utils) on x86.

It works for me.
