Description VeXocide 2004-12-02 03:54:26 UTC
I have downloaded the install cd (universal) 2004.3 and installed gentoo as normal. Then downloaded the package cd (checked md5) and used it to install xorg-6.8.0-r1 with it. This did work, but when i run X or Xorgcfg i get "Illegal operation" annd nothing happens.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install Gentoo 2004.3
2. Install Xorg-6.8.0 from package cd
3. Start xorgcfg

Actual Results:
I got "Illegal operation"

Expected Results:
Start xorgcfg normally

Please try the current version, 6.8.0-r3.

I've installed more packages from the package cd, and it seems it's not X11-XORG that's the problem. With some packages i get "Illegal operation" when i run something from the package, with others i don't.

You might want to check your permissions, especially if you've got various parts of the filesystem as separate partitions. For example, /tmp doesn't become 1777 automatically.
