http://kde.openoffice.org/nwf/
I could not find an equivalent page for Gnome but:
http://people.redhat.com/dcbw/ooo-nwf.html
There are clearly a number of native widgets now supported, and it all seems to be in the same area in code.

Is anyone maintaining the gentoo ebuilds interested in adding this as an option?

Right now, Fedora, for example offers openoffice with native Gtk widgets by default, and it looks quite nice, much more integrated feel.

This has been in Gentoo for quite some while, use openoffice-ximian

You sure about that? before filing this bug I went over the openoffice-ximian package website trying to figure out if it had this.
Only reason I ask is that switching back and forth between openoffice versions means a few days of compilation.

*many hours later*

Yes indeed, that was exactly what I wanted.
Thanks.
Pity the ebuild didn't mention NWF in the description (or the ximian site)
