In the Gentoo Handbook on chapter: "7.b. Installing the Sources", using the livecd from 2004.3 dist. when typing: "ls -l /usr/src/linux" the text displays: "linux-2.4.26-gentoo.r9" not "linux-2.4.26-gentoo-r6" as explained in the handbook. I changed it to "linux-2.4.26-gentoo-r6" as described in the handbook. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3. livecd universal from 2004.3 distribution athlon xp
Guys, should we change it to linux-<kernel version> instead? this should reduce further confusions.
Try have the kernel-version be in line with the kernel-version _provided by the Universal LiveCD_ (i.e. networkless installation). Perhaps add "This is an example" on the first paragraph that mentions "We will assume the kernel source installed is gentoo-sources-2.4.26-r6"
Fixed in CVS. Also found out why I thought it was -r6: -r9 uses the sources for -r6 with additional patches... I just saw gentoo-sources-2.4.26-r6.tar.bz2 on the LiveCD. My bad.
