Description Lloyd Huang (Huang YU HSIN) 2002-08-30 05:13:52 UTC
HI
Please find attached xcin-2.5.3.pre2.tar.gz and
chewing-2002Jan07-snapshot.tar.gz containing xcin-2.5.3-r1.ebuild

The ebuild script copy form freebsd ports/chinese/libtabe that be modify
by myself.

xcin is Chinese X Input Method.
and chewing is a Input Method modules for xcin.

digest-xcin-2.5.3-r1 file is
MD5 6f47203be515f505d5a6750dfbabc0bc xcin-2.5.3.pre2.tar.gz 1433915
MD5 6aea52faf907cb79beac5838057d8edb chewing-2002Jan07-snapshot.tar.gz 1152865

I know gentoo linux have xcin in app-i18n/xcin. But That version ware older
then the, and miss 2 kind very importion Input Method modules, that ware
bimsphone and chewing.
bimsphone provide by libtabe lib.
chewing provide by chewing modules.

This ebuild script will depend on kcfonts and libtabe. kcfonts provide chinese
fonts. libtabe provider lib for chewing and xcin.

Comment 4 Stuart Bouyer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2002-10-12 07:31:58 UTC
I've made a few changes to the ebuild to get it to compile on gcc3.2.
It has support for chewing and bimsphone.

Please try the ebuild and let me know if it needs more work. We are still
waiting on the freeze to end before I can get it into the portage tree.

Stuart

Note this ebuild no longer deps on kcfonts(bug #7260)

ebuild tarball for xcin-2.5.3

You'll also need the tarball for libtabe (bug #7257)
Comment 6 Lloyd Huang (Huang YU HSIN) 2002-10-13 17:36:23 UTC
get xcin ebuild tarball from here,
and testing xcin ebuild tarball ,
That seem is OK..
testing in gentoo 1.4-rc1.
Maybe I change Resolution to FIXED ?
or need someone commit it?

Hello,

Thanks for your efforts on making gentoo to speak
Chinese. It is really good to know that there are
people doing this.

I am a newbie to bugzilla; therefore, do not know
the correct way of reporting bugs. Hopefully, I am
not doing silly things here.

1.
From the latest "xcin-2.5.3_pre2.ebuild" of CVS,
the "--with-xcin-dir" is "/usr/lib/X11/xcin25".
However, the "XCIN_DEFAULT_DIR" in /etc/xcinrc
points to "/usr/lib/xcin" which does not exists.
Will it cause any problem?

well, that seems okay to me; just dont know why.

2.
Also, I spent a lot time in configuring the font
settings in xcinrc and finally realized that the
rgstry and encoding field of my big5 font must
exactly be "big5-0". It can not be say
"big5.et24m-0" eventhough that is what I put in
the xcinrc file.

Should we pust some comment to pkg_postinst()
to tell people some recommending font packages?
such as zh-kcfonts or twmoefonts.

Regards,
Ethan
