when i launch mp4live (as root or as user, with proper permissions on device and drivers functioning) i get only a black screen. i've tried to change different settings (such as preview none/raw/encoded) but no difference. just black. xawtv sees the devices image just fine. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1.insert camera/capture device and modprobe driver, test in xawtv and then quit xawtv 2. launch mp4live... black screen only 3.quit mp4live, check xawtv again to verify still working Actual Results: it doesnt work properly! Expected Results: It should show an image from the /dev/video* device (i checked the settings too, they look correct, /dev/video0 or even i tried /dev/v4l/video0, still no luck)
I only have a very cheap webcam.. but I get the same results... and I also get this message when I run mp4live 19:20:09.312-mp4live-3: Failed to query video capabilities for /dev/video0 do you have that too?
you might also want to ask on the mpeg4ip forum at http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?forum_id=59136
Hi Oliver, actually, i dont get that message. I have checked the mpeg4ip and i havent found anything similar. i think this is certainly gentoo distro-related as i have compiled it on other distro's (debian) without this problem.
I have checked the mpeg4ip forums that is... btw, version 1.2 gives the same problem...
actually, there is this... but its from windows. maybe the SDL solution described is whats needed here too? http://sourceforge.net/forum/forum.php?thread_id=1189035&forum_id=59136
did you ever find a solution to your problem ?
I had it too - when siwtching the Preview vom encoded to raw, I got image.
yeah, i still have this problem... thomas, i think your problem is different havent tried changing sdl's though, cheers
can you try version 1.4 that I just added to the tree?
re-open if you can reproduce with the latest version (1.4.1 as of now)
