To build XEphem you must first of all download the source manually from the authors webpage and place it in /usr/portage/distfiles. The only source available from that webpage is for version 3.6.1 (http://www.clearskyinstitute.com/xephem/download.html). The default gentoo package is for version 3.5.2 - this makes it impossible to build the current default package. Unmasking 3.6.1 would solve this. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. Download only available version of Xephem from authors webpage http://www.clearskyinstitute.com/xephem/download.html 2. Place in /usr/portage/distfiles 3. emerge xephem Actual Results: Failed as version downloaded is not the version of xephem in portage. Old versions of the code are unavailable from the website. Expected Results: Tried to build xephem 3.6.1 (which is currently ~x86). Fixed by unmasking xephem 3.6.1
Touching, as no news in nearly three weeks
That's because it's assigned to the wrong person and product.
Even 3.6.2 now... in CVS, but not yet marked stable. Leaving this bug open as a reminder for contacting the authors about a mirroring permission.
Ok, asked for permission. We'll see what they answer.
Got permission to mirror - fetch restriction removed.
