Description Andrew D. Keyser (aka Legoguy) 2004-11-21 13:06:01 UTC
With gkrellmms enabled, whenever the mail checker attempts to check mail, a window pops up that says "<email address>: bad response after user name" or something to that effect. Sometimes, gkrellm randomly crashes with the error of it not being able to update a chart or panel. After disabling (unmerging) gkrellmms (gkrellm would crash trying to just disable it in the program), the problems went away.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:

Comment 1 Andrew D. Keyser (aka Legoguy) 2004-11-21 14:21:07 UTC
Please understand that after I submitted the bug I did some further investigation and found that it isn't gkrellmms at all. It's a bug in gkrellm itself it seems; enabling the disk meter causes plugin loading and unloading to segfault. It may also be the cause of random crashes reported by others.
Comment 2 Andrew D. Keyser (aka Legoguy) 2004-11-21 14:33:17 UTC
After more review, the behavior seems to be sporatic at best. Enabling things in a different order always reuslts in different things causing it. Seems like this is going to be a toughie. I could supply an strace...

I think I know how to relibly reproduce this error.
1. Start gkrellm2 (I'm using 2.2.4)
2. Open config
3. Select Builtin->Disk
4. Uncheck Composite
5. Check hda (mine consists of hda1, hda2, hda3...also hdb and hdc)
6. Go to setup
7. Select the \c\f$M\n$T format string
8. Bingo! Sefault!
