dev-util/desktop-file-utils is listed as a dependency of gnome-alsamixer-0.9.6.

After removing the dependency, and running:

emerge -C dev-util/desktop-file-utils

I was still able to successfully:

emerge =media-sound/gnome-alsamixer-0.9.6

and subsequently launch gnome-alsamixer.

I did this because dev-util/desktop-file-utils triggered a sandb ox violation on my system.

leave the wrangling to our bugwranglers, don't assign. This is not gnome.

Post the error you had please.

@ sound : use the fdo-mime eclass to handle the stuff desktop-file-utils does & don't have make script do it.

ok, so we're using fdo-mime.eclass now, but we still need dev-util/desktop-file-utils for that mime db stuff
