Eclipse should be split into eclipse-runtime and eclipse-ide. There are a number of programs which require certain parts (such as jface) but the user may not want the IDE. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce:

Nerdboy kindly requested that dev-tools take over all eclipse-stuff
I haven't looked at the source yet, but if you have ideas/pointers on what needs to go in what package, then I'll take a look at splitting it (unless Karltk gets to it first :)
jface is currently split out in bug #71307. There is an ebuild attached to that issue.
I'll be working on ajdt. I maybe writing a separate ebuild for eclipse visualiser. I'll check.
Created attachment 50752 [details] Ebuild for OSGI libraries
Created attachment 50753 [details] Ebuild for runtime libraries
Qian: Have you been able to fix the OSGI and Runtime ebuilds? I remember you saying something about them yesturday. If you have them can you post them, please. Thanks.
Are the new ebuilds posted here not working? They've been tested on my machine, both with 1.4 and 1.5.
Sorry. I thought there was a new ebuild. Turns out it works, I had to force a new download. It is working now. Thanks.
Quan, I am going to create two new issues, one for each of these ebuilds, and set as blocking the jface and jdtcore ebuilds so compnerd will be better able to see what is going on. It was asked for in irc. I'll set this up in a little bit. Scott
This might almost be possible shortly. The linux-build is making great inroads into building eclipse on linux
Closing as the package has been removed from the tree and the build system has changed beyond all recognition. The new build system is likely more modular so we will certainly consider this if it ever gets packaged again.
