When trying to emerge gnome-libs-1.4.2, the configure script fails with the message

Regardless of this message, imlib-1.9.14-r2 is installed and so /usr/bin/imlib-config is existend.

Steps to Reproduce:
1.emerge media-libs/imlib-1.9.14-r2
2.emerge gnome-base/gnome-libs-1.4.2
Fails with USE="doc kde nls" as well as with "-doc -kde -nls"

Actual Results:  
emergeing of gnome-base/gnome-libs-1.4.2 failed.

Expected Results:  
successful installation of gnome-libs-1.4.2

Do you still have this problem?
Does your md5 match mine? This is for media-libs/imlib-1.9.14-r3.

md5sum /usr/bin/imlib-config
7e31bf9613a93d8b744250eca43b529c  /usr/bin/imlib-config

Could you also attach the config.log that the error message talks about?
