Description Dean Baender 2004-11-16 23:24:12 UTC
The last few comments of Bug 9589 were taken care of with the nice mac-fdisk walk-through, but the original issue was with partition map references ... which were not all fixed.

The yaboot.conf example in ch. 10 lists the boot partition as boot=/dev/hda1, which in ch. 4 is the Apple_partition_map. Since mkofboot will want to create an hfs filesystem there, that's probably a bad thing.

The references to hda12 & hda13 (for triple booting) don't exist elsewhere in the install document. If dual/tri-booting is commonplace, would it be worthwhile to add either a section about it with examples or an addendum to the regular install doc?

Also, mkofboot surprised me by asking to create a new filesystem, perhaps a note could be added to that effect, or example output from a successful run of mkofboot -v .

My G4 DVI PowerBook needed to specify disks with the openfirmware format, so
I changed the note for G5 users so G4 users would know they may need it too.

This one has been lingering here long enough. I assume that everything is OK, otherwise the PPC team would've made their remark.

- Updated configuration
- Added confirmation on creation of new filesystem

Thanks for reporting, and sorry for the delay.
