Does it cause you any problems? Note: it's not just /usr/lib64, but a /usr/lib64/${P}. Shredding contents into multiple directories if absolutely needed (I don't see a benefit yet) would have to happen upstream.

I assume it does not. As another data point debian has the same file layout. If you still think it's a problem please report it upstream with a rationale behind it. That way every distribution will get the benefit.
