Kde bug 82423.  The fix didn't make it to kdebase-3.3.1.

nope, it was fixed for 3.4 but the fix was not backported to 3.3.x.

If someone is interested in this, he can ask kde developers to backport it to
the 3.3 branch. Since the change is non trivial, I think it's not safe to 
backport it ourselves.
