Description Marcos González 2004-11-14 14:40:06 UTC
I've created an nttp account to access the usenet groups via my ISP's server.

The problem is I don't need any username or password to log in, and Evolution seems to miss an option to select not using autentication. I guess it tries to send an empty username, and the news server rejects the attemp.

I can access the usenet groups using Pan, so the problem is Evolution related.

evolution automatically detects whether a server uses auth or not. if your server doesn't, then you don't need to have anything valid in the user name. i can connect to my university's nntp server with a bogus username because that is never sent.

this is an upstream problem, in that some nntp servers report the wrong auth method.
