I did everything as explained in http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/udev-guide.xml to switch to udev. But it did not work because I had a initrd from genkernel which did not support udev. So I think it would be wise to add a sentence to this: "Kernelwise, if you're using the default set by genkernel then you're all set. " to "Kernelwise, if you're using the default set by genkernel then you're all set as long as you ran genkernel with --udev or you are not using genkernels initial ramdisk to boot." Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. emerge udev and reboot 2. 3. Actual Results: devfsd was mounted instead of udev
