Specific URLs (archives.g.o seem broken on his mails): https://marc.info/?l=gentoo-project&m=158210305132547 https://marc.info/?l=gentoo-project&m=158210317032593&w=2 https://marc.info/?l=gentoo-project&m=158213470412248&w=2 https://marc.info/?l=gentoo-project&m=158206863322764 I wasn't sure if this is a Proctor or ComRel matter. However, given that it's a repeat offence and one immediately following ComRel action, I suppose it qualifies for further ComRel action. I'm aware that Michael's case is a bit of gray area. As I've heard a few times, he 'sometimes' says something useful. However, most of the time his messages are just plain trolling. In fact, I don't think it's the first time he tries to provoke the ban on himself, but I'm not sure if he claimed himself a 'martyr' before. The real problem is that his communications are harming the community. Practically every time I see his message I get angry, frustrated, demotivated. I'm pretty sure I'm not the only person. The worst part is that it seems that this is precisely his goal, that he enjoys this. Everyone wastes time and health on his messages, and gets distracted from the important problems that were discussed in the thread he answers. In fact, people refrain from replying just to avoid getting his silly comment in reply. I think that given all the past evidence, and confirmed by his behavior right now, applying the ban to just one mailing list was a mistake. Michael should be banned from all Gentoo media, including mailing lists and official IRC channels. Otherwise, he's just going to retaliate his bans elsewhere.
Thank you for your report, it seems apparent that telling him his behavior is not proper does not work.
Permanent ban enacted as per bug 710780
