Description caspar-gentoo-bugs 2004-11-12 12:35:38 UTC
I tried to emerge acl-2.2.27 and attr-2.4.19 today but couldn't download them.

The URL isn't

   ftp://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/download/cmd_tars/

but

   ftp://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/cmd_tars/

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. try ftp://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/download/cmd_tars/
2. try ftp://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/cmd_tars/
3.

Actual Results:
first one fails, second one succeeds
Comment 1 caspar-gentoo-bugs 2004-11-12 12:54:53 UTC
no success -- file sizes differ from digest (and md5sums as well) :-((

attr-2.4.19.src.tar.gz
digest says it's of size 103596 but on SGI server it's 103599
md5sum of downloaded file 0ea0d3bea5a58727eafd46fa1c0f09cc

acl-2.2.27.src.tar.gz
digest says it's of size 144408 but on SGI server it's 144400
md5sum of downloaded file 973c63cea7402345d834ceb0049a1f86
Comment 2 caspar-gentoo-bugs 2004-11-12 16:03:33 UTC
Changed summary to reflect the issue being elsewhere...

Ok, tried again, it's not the URL. Don't know why I got these messages though:

attr can be downloaded from their site but:

!!! Digest verification Failed:
!!! /usr/portage/distfiles/attr-2.4.19.src.tar.gz
!!! Reason: Filesize does not match recorded size

acl can be downloaded though the message tells otherwise:

00:47:12 (5.64 MB/s) - `/usr/portage/distfiles/acl-2.2.27.src.tar.gz' saved [144400/144400]

!!! Couldn't download acl-2.2.27.src.tar.gz. Aborting.

I suppose the difference of these messages is due to attr being slightly bigger than recorded and acl being slightly smaller.

The problem is the same... no compile of these packages :-((

the files I got from the gentoo mirrors match the digest from the tree.. I wonder if/what has changed in the upstream site..
Comment 4 caspar-gentoo-bugs 2004-11-13 03:53:48 UTC
Interesting. I got two locations to pick the packages, ftp://ftp.easynet.nl/mirror/gentoo/distfiles/ and ftp://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/download/cmd_tars/, and the first one didn't hold these files, the second holds the differing ones.

The files were changed on Oct. 12, 2004.

I checked two mirrors of oss.sgi.com each holding these differing files.

Ok, I did my homework.

I downloaded the packages from a gentoo mirror and compared them to the ones from the sgi server. Their content is the same though their size, md5sum (of course) and timestamps differ:

gentoo mirror (ftp://ftp-stud.fht-esslingen.de/pub/Mirrors/gentoo/distfiles/):
144408 Oct 10 12:32 acl-2.2.27.src.tar.gz bccc63369b5c446e5e2e999bb0a83e31
103596 Oct 10 12:33 attr-2.4.19.src.tar.gz f08b2602e455a28578b24fd7d0afe292

sgi server (ftp://oss.sgi.com/projects/xfs/download/cmd_tars/):
144400 Oct 12 18:16 acl-2.2.27.src.tar.gz 973c63cea7402345d834ceb0049a1f86
103599 Oct 12 18:16 attr-2.4.19.src.tar.gz 0ea0d3bea5a58727eafd46fa1c0f09cc

As the ebuilds for both attr-2.4.19 and acl-2.2.27 via SRC_URI refer to the sgi server the digest for the files should not refer to the files from the mirrors but from the sgi server.

Everything else is simply broken and only because it doesn't show up if one gets the files from the mirrors doesn't correct this.

the files changed upstream on the SGI servers

i've update the digests to reflect the new md5sums/filesizes

this is just a workaround
Comment 9 Martin Holzer (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-06 08:20:14 UTC
mirror-admins please delete the old file and refetch it from src_uri
Comment 10 Jeffrey Forman (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-12-06 10:26:35 UTC
Done and done, our fetch script should fix that right up.
