Description Omer Hasan 2004-11-11 16:29:06 UTC
In /etc/gnome-vfs-2.0/modules/smb-module.conf it has "smb: [daemon] libsmb." I don't believe this is correct. It should read "smb: libsmb" And this has fixed smb/nautilus problems for me. Samba shares now show up in nautilus but still ask for password even if one is not set. If you press ESC at the password prompt nautilus crashes and if u simply press cancel nautilus continues to load the share. This may effect all 2.8.X and possible 2.6.X.

Also when I ran nautilus with this fix with the console spitting info out. Howl was having init problems and it complained like so:
[assert] error: 111 (Connection refused)
[assert] where: "socket.c", "sw_socket_tcp_connect", line: 720

[assert] error: 107 (Transport endpoint is not connected)
[assert] where: "socket.c", "sw_socket_tcp_close", line: 873

(nautilus:22144): libgnomevfs-WARNING **: get_global_howl_session - howl init failed

----
I also get an error about the samba MIME not having any description in the MIME database. It said to contact gnome-vfs team at gnome.

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.Open nautilus
2. click computer
3. click network
4. go to smb shares

Actual Results:
nautilus wouldn't recognize samba shares and claims it might be a virus or
something harmful. Something about it not being in the MIME database.

Expected Results:
samba shares should show up properly without asking for password if one isn't set.

How about trying USE="-howl" emerge gnome-vfs?
Comment 2 Nathaniel McCallum (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2005-05-27 17:56:58 UTC
"smb: [daemon] libsmb" is the correct thing.

What is the problem that you are having without your modifications to
/etc/gnome-vfs-2.0/modules/smb-module.conf?
Comment 3 Omer Hasan 2005-05-27 19:18:47 UTC
this bug should be closed now. I'm not experiencing this problem with gnome 2.10
as of now.
