ati-drivers-extra-3.14.6-improvements.patch

Patch includes patches from bug 66368 (made by Ernst Persson and me):

* Use actual Qt Style (dont-make-it-ugly)
* Make clean should only make "clean" (makefile-conventions)
* new-desktop-file
* fd.org-desktop-loc
* remove ghost movement of linked sliders (+ useable with keyboard again)
* Specific values (min, max) when the loaded gamma are out of range
* Changed GAMMA_MIN to 0.12 -> the driver seems to interpret lower values as
1.0
* Fixes following problems with gcc 3.4
  * when i click first on adjustment and then dualscreen, nothing can be seen
on this tab
  * when i clicked on adjustment and then click on a button the fireglcontrol
will segfault

I forgot to remove a testing tweak (-g -O1) in Makefiles. I am very sry for
that, but here is the clean one

Shouldn't the ati-drivers-extras stuff go into a separate bug?

Also, has anyone tested this with doom3(-demo) yet?
Comment 6 Wojciech Milkowski 2004-11-11 07:55:06 UTC
Yes I did, and it permamanently hangs my computer. In other games like ut2004 it works but has horrible random pauses ~1-2 seconds...

I didn't notice that behaviour with previous drivers, 3.14.1 didn't work, but also didn't hang my computer, just produced big artifacts on screen.

Wojciech (if that is your name), please open another bug about ati drivers misbehaving or be a little more informative.

about the -extra related patch is ok for this bug
Comment 8 Wojciech Milkowski 2004-11-11 09:52:53 UTC
Yes, I'll do it when the official ebuild will be available, and I'll still have that problem. For now, I have just renamed 3.14.1 ebuild, and instlled it witout any tweaks. Maybe, it will be fixed in official release of 3.14.6 ebuild.

Wojtek

P.S. Wojtek is just shorter version of Wojciech in Poland (like Joseph and Joe), feel free to use them both :-).

Removing myself since the drivers are in portage now
Comment 11 Robert Wohlrab 2004-11-27 14:22:27 UTC
I think that this bug can be closed (marked as resolved) because it is in portage (including patches) since weeks.
Comment 12 Luca Barbato gentoo-dev 2004-11-27 16:32:19 UTC
well yes
