Description Joakim Tjernlund 2019-12-31 17:17:08 UTC
eselect kernel list
Available kernel symlink targets:
  [1]   linux-4.19.88-gentoo
  [2]   linux-4.19.89-gentoo
  [3]   linux-4.19.90-gentoo
  [4]   linux-4.19.91-gentoo
  [5]   linux-4.19.92-gentoo *

However:
* Gentoo Linux Genkernel; Version 4.0.1
* Using genkernel configuration from '/etc/genkernel.conf' ...
* Running with options: --makeopts=-j8 --install --bootloader=grub2 --kernel-config=kernel-config-x86_64-4.19.92-gentoo kernel

* Working with Linux kernel 4.19.91-gentoo for x86_64
* Using kernel config file '/etc/kernels/kernel-config-x86_64-4.19.92-gentoo' ...
*

Seems like genkernel looks at /usr/portage tree, not what is in
/usr/src/linux

Please double check. I think you misread output. We don't do anything fancy with here - by default we use /usr/src/linux and that's it. If you really believe it's doing something wrong please show "ls -al /usr/src" output and attach genkernel.log file from that run (you can stop after you get "* >> Compiling <KV> modules ..." output).
Comment 2 Joakim Tjernlund 2020-01-01 14:43:34 UTC
hmm, Makefile in 4.19.92 still said SUBLEVEL = 91
reinstalling gentoo-sources-4.19.92 made it right again.
No idea how that happened ...
Now it looks fine, thanks
