24 dec 2019 the new version of Darktable 3.0.0 is available[1]. > When updating from the currently stable 2.6.x series, please bear in mind that your edits will be preserved during this process, but the new library and configuration will not be usable with 2.6.x any more, so making a backup is strongly advised. > Note that the new GUI requires Gtk+ 3.22 or higher to work properly. Please have a bit more patience next time you file a version bump bug (like 7 days after release).
(In reply to Andreas Sturmlechner from comment #1) > Please have a bit more patience next time you file a version bump bug (like > 7 days after release). It seems like darktable is getting very popular. The bump request came less than 12h after official release announcement. 2.6 was in tree less than 48h after official release announcement. People are just impatient, however due to number of dependency changes and major version number change it might be a bit harder to simply bump ebuild ver.
bumped. https://gitweb.gentoo.org/repo/gentoo.git/commit/?id=3e258b671b29c56afe5e54dd6260c9b82f9ae76d

But in ebuild it says GTK 3.14 is required, while release announcement https://www.darktable.org/2019/12/darktable-300-released/ says "Note that the new GUI requires Gtk+ 3.22 or higher to work properly." While all mentioned dependency changes the version in portage is equal or higher than required by darktable, wouldn't it be better to explicitly say ">=x11-libs/gtk+-3.22:3"?
