This is the updated Courier-IMAP 1.5.3. 
 
As of courier-imap 1.5.3, logger was renamed to courierlogger. Included in the 
following attachment is the updated ebuild and a new set of gentoo-*.rc2 files 
that are installed.

While you are at it, could you please make the --without-vchkpw flag in the 
build dependant on if vpopmail is installed ?

I have to change it manually to --with-vchkpw everytime.

I added a check for vpopmail in courier-imap-1.6.1... please test and let me 
know if it works for you.

I have the ebuild searching for the file /var/vpopmail/etc/lib_deps ... I think 
this is the same file that the configure script looks for.

I have now been using 1.6.1 for about a week without any problems.  Have you 
checked out if the vpopmail portion appears to work?

Courier 1.6.1 package also falls afoul of the logger renamed to courierlogger.

I was running pre-1.5.3, performed an emerge -u world, and blooey I had no email.

Took all day today to figure that one out... I edited
/usr/lib/courier-imap/gentoo-imapd.rc to replace "logger" with "courierlogger"
and I am using mail again!

It seems that an emerge update should replace this file.

courier-imap-1.6.2 is marked stable in portage.
