This discovered when curl was removed...

# xine

xine: error while loading shared libraries: libcurl.so.2: cannot openshared object file: No such file or directory

Now kmplayer works therefore I conclude the dependency is with xine-ui.

What version of curl do you have installed?

Confusing question...

7.12.0-r2

when I recompiled curl, xine-ui worked as expected.
I was not clear that kmplayer still worked with the xine engine.

*therefore* xine-ui has a curl dependency :)
