A new release 1.8 of xmmsctrl is out. Don't know enough about ebuilds to write one for myself.

A little version bump is enough with some lines removed (which is what the patch does.)

in portage.

please note: just because a patch does not apply, that does not mean that it is no longer needed.  If a patch doesn't apply, first check to see if the patch needs to be remade for the new version before just dropping it.
