Hi, it's a very simple but usefull shell script to get rescanned scsi bus. http://scsi-rescan.sourceforge.net/
sys-apps/sg3_utils used to contain the script. I think the shellscript should be as a separate package. # ChangeLog for sys-apps/sg3_utils # Copyright 2000-2004 Gentoo Foundation; Distributed under the GPL v2 # $Header: /var/cvsroot/gentoo-x86/sys-apps/sg3_utils/ChangeLog,v 1.8 2004/08/30 23:32:40 dholm Exp $ 31 Aug 2004; David Holm <dholm@gentoo.org> sg3_utils-1.08.ebuild: Added to ~ppc. *sg3_utils-1.08 (14 Aug 2004) 14 Aug 2004; <plasmaroo@gentoo.org> -sg3_utils-1.07.ebuild, +sg3_utils-1.08.ebuild: 1.07 is broken on 2.4 headers; 1.08 seems to rectify this issue. *sg3_utils-1.07 (13 Aug 2004) 13 Aug 2004; <plasmaroo@gentoo.org> +sg3_utils-1.07.ebuild: Version bump, also added Kurt Garloff's rescan-scsi-bus.sh script by request. 09 Aug 2004; <plasmaroo@gentoo.org> sg3_utils-1.06.ebuild, +files/sg3_utils-llseek.patch: Added a patch to solve PIC issues; bug #59832. 09 Aug 2004; Travis Tilley <lv@gentoo.org> sg3_utils-1.06.ebuild: Added ~amd64 keyword. 18 Jun 2004; Jason Wever <weeve@gentoo.org> sg3_utils-1.06.ebuild: Added ~sparc keyword. *sg3_utils-1.06 (10 Feb 2004) 10 Feb 2004; <plasmaroo@gentoo.org> sg3_utils-1.06.ebuild: Initial commit, closes bug #28981.
What's the problem with just using sg3_tools? I think having an ebuild to install a script when it's included with sg3_tools as well is a bit pointless...
I don't see sg3_utils available for x86. Second, no-one expects them to contain it. If it would be mentioned in package descriptions, so that "emerge -s rescan_scsi_bus" would find find this package, I wouldn't complain. ;)
Added "Contains rescan_scsi_bus." to ${DESCRIPTION} - fixed ebuilds should reach the rsync mirrors within an hour. Please reopen this bug if you still have any problems. Thanks!
Actually it should mention rescan_scsi_bus.sh. Maybe you would like to fix it so that people know that gentoo also uses this shell script and something Gentoo guys invented? ;)
Done :-)
