Description Fred Van Andel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-03 11:18:08 UTC
When trying to emerge I get the following instructions:
!!! Your current profile is deprecated and not supported anymore.
!!! Please upgrade to the following profile if possible:
        default-linux/x86/2004.2

To upgrade do the following steps:
# emerge -n '>=sys-apps/portage-2.0.51'
# cd /etc/
# rm make.profile
# ln -s ../usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/x86/2004.2 make.profile

Following the given instructions does not eliminate the error. The correct profile is 2004.3 not 2004.2

I am running portage-2.0.51-r2

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1.
2.
3.

you neglected to provide `emerge info`
Comment 2 Fred Van Andel (RETIRED) gentoo-dev 2004-11-05 12:05:49 UTC
The same problem is occuring on a different machine, this time it wants me to upgrade to 2004.0 rather than the current 2004.3

Emerge info follows:

etc # emerge info

!!! Your current profile is deprecated and not supported anymore.
!!! Please upgrade to the following profile if possible:
        default-linux/x86/2004.0

To upgrade do the following steps:
# emerge -n '>=sys-apps/portage-2.0.51'
# cd /etc/
# rm make.profile
# ln -s ../usr/portage/profiles/default-linux/x86/2004.0 make.profile

those are valid profiles

if you want, you can upgrade to 2004.3, your choice
