when the language is changed to en_GB and a document checked, aspell crashes as though it hasn't found the dictionary. Using en_US and en_CA result in the expected behaviour. Version of aspell is aspell-0.50.5-r4 with aspell-en-0.51.1. I've tried re-emerging aspell-en but the problem isn't fixed. Very strange. Works fine here. aspell --lang=en_GB --check british Could you post the contents of /usr/lib/aspell/?
