Description Christophe 2004-11-02 14:03:09 UTC
When I encountered a flash webpage, I tried the install plugin option. Firefox go through Macromedia licence, download and then crashes. But worst, it cannot be restarted, because it seg. fault.

I know that there is no 64bits flash plugin, but not everybody knows that. It should not install incompatible version.

(Solution to restore is just to delete the flash files in ~/.mozilla/plugins.)

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. On firefox RC1, go to webpage with flash plugin
2. Install plugin
3. Crashs at the end of install

Actual Results:
firefox crashes and cannot be restarted.

Expected Results:
It should not allow installation of incompatible plugins (I suppose it is
installing a 32bits version)

Not something we can fix in Gentoo. Either firefox needs mending to prevent 32-bit plugins from loading in a 64-bit build, or the Macromedia stuff needs to be fixed to refrain from installing on amd64. Feel free to take the bug upstream in either direction.
