Description Daniel Gulotta 2019-10-29 11:40:30 UTC
I tried a few times to create a forum post with the title:

"connection is insecure" when starting Firefox from Thunderb

This resulted in the error message:

General Error
Error in posting

Changing the title to the following fixed the problem:

'connection is insecure' when starting Firefox from Thunderb

If it is not possible to allow double quotes, then a more specific error message would be helpful.

It's a known issue that has to do with the title length, not quotes per se (" and ' are not of equal in length in their html form, depending a bit on the specific characters used).

While we have considered applying a remedy to it, we've been reluctant to put any more effort into the current codebase, since we are also working towards upgrading to phpBB 3, which is not affected by this issue. Depending on how much longer it will take, we still might do something about it.

As such, I guess this bug could be closed already, but I think I'll leave it be, and re-title it a bit, since I at the very least agree with the error message part.

In any case, thanks for the report!
