I suddenly am getting "Your current profile is deprecated and not supported anymore. Please upgrade to the following profile if possible. default-linux/amd64/2004.3" . It would be nice if the message also told me how to go about doing this. Reproducible: Always Steps to Reproduce: 1. 2. 3.
we dont know what profile you're using so we cant fix it in other words, you neglected to provide `emerge info` like the bug report page said to
mea culpa, but my comment was not about the specifics, but about getting a more informative warning message---such as "please see 'man emerge-help-update-profile' for more information" or "you need to run something like 'emerge updatemyprofile' to fix this. it is not about my specific ignorance. !!! Your current profile is deprecated and not supported anymore. !!! Valid complaint, should contain a pointer to a doc at least.
Not our bug though (Hint: everything but the first line in the deprecated file is used as upgrade instructions).
dear marius: can you please be a little more explicit? (btw, I suggested a documentation pointer as an enhancement; its not a bug). regards, /iaw
the upgrade message is part of the profile, not portage that's why the 'fix' isnt part of portage and why i needed to know what profile you were using fixed in cvs
great addition to how to fix this. I worked through it, and it was fine---except for one minor hiccup. in the path, you repeated default-linux twice. regards, /iaw
