Description Thomas Wabner 2004-10-27 10:00:56 UTC
I have installes java newly on a vvery new gentoo system. After installing for example jedit and try to call this application there windows are not correct show (to big, gray aereas and so on). The same effect if you try to start any demo applications from the jdk you have installed.

It makes no difference what jdk you have installed. I have tried sun-jdk, blackdown-jdk and ibm-jdk.

This bug can be fixed if gentoo required the lesstif library for java (or any java swing applications). After I have installed lesstif all java swing (or awt) application working fine).

Reproducible: Always
Steps to Reproduce:
1. Install java without installed lesstif library
2. try to start demo swing or awt java application
3. the windows are ugly

Expected Results:
Correct windows and the requirement of the lesstif library.

is this the same assue as 69318 ?
Comment 2 Thomas Wabner 2004-11-01 09:53:07 UTC
It can be the same. But i have not tested the remerging stuff of xorg. Installing lestiff works for me and i know that the awt-libs throwing never seen exceptions if there is no lestiff installed.

But of course ... we can merge the two bugs and appending my comments to the other bug-history.

Please tell us which version of the X server, the JDK and the lesstif libraries
you have tried, and reopen the bug.

It would btw seem that a reinstall of xorg-x11 will fix your problems.
