I just ran uvscan from vlnx, and this is the basic result:

ginseng bin # uvscan

The program has been altered; please replace it with a good copy.

Should this package be installed into /opt?
After unpacking the core .Z file the program runs fine... Maybe the location of 
the files need to be clumped together and not spread around.

I had just simply re-copied the uvscan from the vlnx tarball itself, over the 
symlinked /usr/bin/uvscan, and it started working, So something's happening in 
the ebuild that's breaking it.

I'm getting an error message stating that messages.dat cannot be found by 
copying the executable over.
